Our renovation of this 1912 Arts & Crafts residence reimagined the first floor for modern living while honoring the home’s heritage. Sensitive architectural shifts opened the plan for large family gatherings, with oak and walnut finishes and period-inspired details grounding the design. A thoughtfully planned kitchen anchors the space, where a lacquered blue island wrapped in Maya quartzite sets the stage for cooking and conversation. Subtle nods to the clients’ love of sailing, hand-crafted finishes, and custom touches like a built-in china cabinet with cremone bolts bring a sense of timeless character and echo details already found in the home. With flexible dining, a reconfigured mudroom, and a discreet service corridor housing the butler’s kitchen, powder room, and laundry, the home now welcomes everyday life and holiday celebrations with equal ease.
